Pastor Turner was saved and baptized at age 14, called to preach at age 17, accepted the pastorate of his first church and was ordained at 18. From that time, over fifty years ago, he used Strong's Dictionary and Thayer's Lexicon to search every word of his text for the sermon he was preparing to preach. He became pastor of his first little country church in August, 1950, at the end of his first year in college. He has been a pastor of good successful churches without interruption ever since, as well as doing missionary work.

In college and seminary he diligently studied Hebrew and Greek, Latin, and German. He later learned to speak Spanish fluently. Pastor Turner holds the following degrees: the Master of Arts from Mississippi College; the Bachelor of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; and the Doctor of Philosophy in Religious Studies from Los Angeles University.

Every week, without fail for over fifty years he studied and explored the meaning of every verse in every book of the Bible, and literally expounded every verse of the Bible to his congregation one or more times in that fifty plus years.

Out of the word, verse, section, and book messages that God has given him he wrote The Pastor's Manual which has been used by a missionary couple since 1986 to train over three hundred pastors and awarded degrees to those pastors in the Republic of Haiti.

Finally, with his completion of the new Heritage Bible translation it simply became urgent upon him by the Holy Spirit that he must make this available to other pastors and believers, the precious gems of the Word of God that He has given him.
