From
Arthur Blessitt, Evangelist
to the world, minister to Sunset Strip, since Christmas Day, 1969,
having walked the entire distance of the circumference of the
earth carrying a twelve foot cross, in every nation on earth,
now entered in the Guinness World Book of Records.
"Rev. Gwin Turner is my pastor, friend, confidant, and board
member of the Arthur Blessitt Evangelistic Association. We have
ministered together and he has been my pastor since the 1960's
when I was the minister on Sunset Strip, Hollywood, California.
As a person he is a mighty and humble man of God full of wisdom
and knowledge of both the Bible and God. Through the five decades
of our fellowship I have ask him hundreds of questions! Time and
again I have come to him with a list of things that I do not understand
and we set down and he opens the Word of God and the Truth is
made clear. Many times I phone him from around the world and say
"Pastor Turner I have a question, give me the brief answer"
and he does. We have sat together for hour upon hour as he has
taught me. He looks to the Word of God and the leadership of the
Holy Spirit to bring forth Truth. He is the most consistent man
of God in his teaching. He does not change for convenience but
lets the Truth be just what it is. Yet Pastor Turner is a man
of compassion and tenderness, a person that is a real reflection
of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We have wept together and
I have confided in him my greatest hurts and joys. I cannot imagine
my life without Pastor Gwin and Norma Turner. From Pastor Turner
and the church he pastors I have been 'sent out to the world'.
Pastor and Norma both serve on the board of directors of the Arthur
Blessitt Evangelistic Association. Pastor Turner is a minister's
pastor indeed! I have heard him preach in person hundreds of times
and have listened to hundreds of his tapes, have read every month's
teaching that he sends out for decades."
"I recommend to every person to get and study The Heritage
Bible. I have been taught from it for years as Pastor Turner developed
it. The Expositor's Sermon Library will enrich you in your calling
and ministering Jesus to the world. The lives of pastors around
the world have been transformed as well as their churches by studying
The Pastor's Manual. Anything that Pastor Turner writes, I recommend
with all my heart. "
Roi
and Linda Savaiinaea, veteran missionaries and pastor to pastors
in the Republic of Haiti since 1985.
"Shopping for curriculum and study aids can become very
tedious and confusing due to the myriads of information currently
on the market. You need something tried and true, but how do you
know what works? My wife and I have served on the mission field
in the capacity of evangelists, church planters, and trainers
of pastors for over 23 years. We have served in diverse places
such as Western Samoa, Papua New Guinea, Northern Canada, and
finally in Haiti since 1985. During this time we have drawn largely
from the materials produced from the ministry of Pastor Gwin Turner.
We have found that the grass roots illustrations that Pastor Turner
uses to depict spiritual truths are cross-culturally understood
and transcend all cultural barriers. For example, Pastor Turner
teaches that salvation entails the use of mind, emotions, and
will. He uses the comparison of a man sitting in a chair in a
building which has been set on fire. First, the man receives the
information in his intellect: The building is on fire. Next, fear
arises in his emotions. Finally, his will is set in motion and
he exits the building. Having the information alone in his intellect
did not save him from the fire, having the emotions of fear and
dread stirred up inside of him did not save him from the fire.
It was not until his will acted and he decided to vacate the building
that he was actually saved. Likewise, knowing Jesus intellectually
as both Lord and Savior is insufficient to save us, for even demons
know who Jesus is and tremble. Many first world countries appeal
mostly to people's intellect in order to persuade them into salvation.
On the other hand, many third world countries emphasize the emotional
aspect and stir peoples hearts in order to excite them into salvation.
People are afraid of hell and, as it were, cover the altar with
a blanket of tears. Yet, the emotions are short lived, and the
people soon slide back into their same old life style. This all
takes place because the process of salvation is incomplete, the
human will has yet to be activated. They must decide to ask Jesus
to come into their hearts and believe that His blood is sufficient
to pay for their sins and receive His pardon and Lordship."
"Since 1986 we have taught pastor's seminars. We have been
astounded at the number of pastors who have given their hearts
to the Lord after hearing this simple illustration. All of them
had been resting in a false sense of security, thinking their
salvation was assured by their position in the church or was imputed
to them as a birthright. Baptism and the Lord's Supper are likewise
defined in equally simple but distinguishing terms. Before baptizing
anyone we carefully delineate what it is, and what it is not,
as outlined in the Pastor's Manual. As a result we have often
had the pleasure of leading family members to the Lord who just
thought to accompany their loved ones to the baptism. Moreover,
by diligently clarifying common misconceptions about the elements
of the Lord's Supper and by clearly defining its significance
many, many, many partakers have been brought to true repentance.
All of this and more is found in the Pastor's Manual."
"We live in an age where almost everyone purports to teach
the "deeper things" of the Spirit. As a consequence
the rudiments of the faith, which the martyrs confirmed with their
blood, are either altogether neglected or are so hastily gone
over as to render a shaky foundation which collapses at even the
slightest storm of life. The Word of God admonishes us to in Jeremiah
6:16, "Thus says Jehovah, Stand upon the well trod road,
and see, and ask for the old paths, where is this good way, and
walk in it, and you shall find rest for your souls.. " Pastor
Turner has in the most profound ways described the old paths which
render, even in the most difficult times, rest for our souls.
Pastor Turner's translation of the Bible, The Heritage Bible,
is both scholarly and yet easy to understand. Today, many pastors
use Greek and Hebrew word studies in their sermons just to impress
their audiences with their knowledge of these languages. Not so
with The Heritage Bible; word studies are only incorporated to
explain distinctions which cannot be otherwise explained. We have
been truly blessed in our own personal devotions as well as in
preparing our messages for the pastors and churches. For instance,
for the past ten years or more Haiti has been seething in political
turmoil, constantly on the brink of disaster. Often the people
of God have been weary and afraid. How refreshing it was to read
the translation of Psalm 68: 20 in The Heritage Bible as "
He that is our God is the God of salvation; and unto God the Lord
belong the exits from death. " This verse led us to think
about exits. The way out. The door. Jesus said, I'm the Door,
I am the Way. He is the Way out of our situations. He is also
our Door. Our Door into where we need to go and our door out of
where we are."
"All of the foregoing materials we are using
under the anointing of the Holy Spirit to raise up believing pastors
and believers in the churches in Haiti who have the heart of Jesus
to reach a land in misery. These pastors and believers are what
makes Haiti beautiful. Therefore we strongly recommend these materials
as definitely tried and true."
