Spirit Over Matter - Sermon Outline

Deuteronomy 8:2-3 HB
2 And you shall remember all the way which Jehovah, your God, walked you these forty years in the desert, to look down upon you with harshness, and to prove you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would hedge about his commandments, or not.
3 And he looked down upon you with harshness, and allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna, which you did not know by seeing, neither did your fathers know by seeing, so that he might make you know by seeing that man does not live by food alone, but man lives by every word that goes out of the mouth of Jehovah. Mat 4:4

The purpose of this message is to urge us to put Spirit over matter, and give us some direction on how to place Spirit over matter.

Introduction:
God is Spirit. John 4:24
God’s words are Spirit and they are life. John 6:63
1. Spirit created matter.
(1) Put pure high test fuel in your system. Heb 11:
(2) Do not let the world put dirt in your fuel tank.
Col 2:8
2. Spirit controls matter.
The Spirit Controls
(1) all the elements in gases, liquids, and solids (air, water, and soil; light and darkness, heat and cold). Gen 1:1-19
(2) all the reproduction of all plants, living creatures, and humans. Gen 1:20-31
(3) all the weather from pole to to pole and on all heavenly bodies. Mat 5:45
(4) the rise and fall of all peoples and kingdoms and the direction of history. Dan 4:17
3. Feed your spirit.
(1) By reading and obeying the Bible. God’s words are Spirit and life. John 6:63
(2) By attending church, hearing the man of God, and being with people who follow the Spirit
4. Operate in the Holy Spirit.
(1) Means remembering what God has done in the Bible and in your life. Deu 8:2
(2) …means operating under pressure so the conditionof your heart is revealed to God and yourself. Deu 8:2
(3) …means rejoicing in what God provides, not whatyou wish you had. Deu 8:3-5
(4) ...means hedging about the words of Jehovah God. Deu 8:6

Maintaining spiritual control over material things in our lives is something we have to concentrate on constantly. Let us resolve now to constantly ask God to make us the most spiritual we can be every hour of every day for the rest of our lives.
